Counseling for Anxiety

These days, most of my clients face challenges with some level of anxiety. Maybe this is you, too?

Do you feel like anxious thoughts take up a lot of space in your head? Does it feel like you can’t control them no matter how hard you try? Or is anxiety a low-level but chronic buzz in the background of your life that gets in the way of fully relaxing?

Often, these are the symptoms of anxiety:

  • Feeling nervous, restless, or constantly on edge
  • Excessive or intense sweating
  • Rapid breathing or episodes of hyperventilation
  • Shaking, trembling, or involuntary muscle twitching
  • Struggling to concentrate or focus on anything besides your worries (can overlap with symptoms of ADHD or ADD)
  • Becoming fixated on specific thoughts or ideas, which may indicate obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Anxiety triggered by a past event or experience, potentially signaling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Trouble falling or staying asleep, also known as insomnia
  • Increased irritability, feeling snappy or easily frustrated
  • Experiencing a sense of danger, panic, or impending doom
  • Feeling weak, fatigued, or physically drained

When it comes to managing and treating anxiety, research consistently demonstrates that therapy is often the most effective approach. While medications for anxiety and depression can provide relief, therapy addresses the root causes, not just the surface-level symptoms. In fact, therapy is essential if you're taking anti-anxiety or depression medications because it works alongside them to promote deeper healing.

Therapy helps you understand and resolve the underlying issues contributing to your anxiety.

Therapy can help you uncover the underlying causes of your worries and fears, learn how to relax, and look at situations in a new, less frightening way. This comprehensive treatment equips you to manage anxiety in a more sustainable and empowering way. Let's work together to help you develop better coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills to alleviate anxiety and stress.
